Barbara Ann Dover Singletary
Barbara Ann Dover Singletary passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at her home in Maydelle. She was born July 3, 1959 in Jacksonville to Mack R. Dover and Corine Johnson Dover. Barbara graduated from Maydelle High School in 1977. She worked for the Rusk State Hospital for 30 or so years before retiring. She couldn’t stand to be still and went to work at Wal-Mart in Jacksonville as a cashier. Mrs. Barbara enjoyed life. She loved to treasure hunt, look for arrowheads, go fishing or simply drive around on her Mule and see what was going on around her neighbors’ place. She loved her grandkids and going and watching them be involved in sports or whatever school activities they had going on. She also enjoyed taking care of everyone in her life. She was known to be pretty strong willed as well. She will certainly be missed by her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons: Brandon “Bubba” Knight of Maydelle and Jeremy Singletary and wife Brittney of Rusk; daughter: Rebecca “Sissy” Singletary of Maydelle; grandchildren: Gracie Knight, Dautry Knight, Hunter Moore, Jaylon Singletary, and Brynlee Singletary; sisters: Brenda Kay Goff and husband Billy Ray of Maydelle, Rebecca Kirby and husband Alan of Mt. Hope; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Mickey Singletary; and brother: Bobby Wayne Dover.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2024 at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 221 W. 5th Street, Rusk, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Oakland Missionary Baptist Church, 205 CR 1718, Rusk, TX with Bro. Rex Hoot and Rev. Johnny Emerson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Timmy Joe Langston, Shane Bobbitt, Nathan Roberts, Dautry Knight, Hunter Moore, and Jaylon Singletary. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jeremiah Clark and Aaron Paul Dement. Arrangements are under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk, TX.
