Jo Ann Saylors Ray

A funeral service for Jo Ann Saylors Ray, 77, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. She will be laid to rest at Pierces Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 24, 2024, and family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Jo Ann was born on October 13, 1946, to Maude Estelle and Henry Saylors and passed away on July 21, 2024.

Jo Ann worked for Automatic Gas Co. for 26 years, overseeing the bookkeeping and taking propane orders, alongside her husband who was a driver and office manager. She enjoyed her job of meeting the many people that would come in to do business with the company.

Her Thanksgiving meals were legendary with her family, and they were the highlight of her grandchildren’s visits at that time of year. After her retirement from the propane company, she spent many days helping her husband with the family ranch and worked side by side with him. She was a devoted wife, and a “mama bear” to her sons. She was a Christian and gave of herself to her family. She will be sorely missed.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Saylors and Maude Estelle (Dover) Saylors and sisters, Norman Jean Mills and Wilma Goff.

Left to cherish Jo Ann’s memory are her loving husband of 60 years, Clyde Ray of Jacksonville; 3 sons, Mark Ray of Jacksonville, Scott Ray of Jacksonville, and Tracy Ray and wife, Kristie of Florida; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Ray and wife, Kristin, Jordan Guidry, Tanner Ray, Payton Ray, and Mackenzie Ray; 2 great-grandchildren, Brayden and Braxton; numerous nieces and nephews including Jerry Gibson and family of Huntsville; and 3 furry children, Lucky, Sammie and Lady.
