Tony Wayne Blackburn

Tony Wayne Blackburn, 60, of Maydelle, passed away June 28, 2024 in Tyler. Tony was born November 24, 1963 in Jacksonville to Charles and Carolyn Blackburn, although he was actually raised by his grandparents, Doc and Ureta Hooper. From a young age, Tony enjoyed being around and working on cars. He would develop a love for racing especially drag racing. Later in life he would even enjoy go-cart racing. Tony has worked in various places around Cherokee County as a mechanic, but mostly enjoyed having his own shop, just as long as he could do what he loved to do, working on cars.

He is survived by his wife, Stacey Blackburn, children: Amanda Scott and husband Hayden Scott, Caleb Dover and partner Hillary Alexander, Mackinly Dover and fiancé McKenzie Morton, Matthew Dover and partner Shelby Birdwell, Angel Williams, Kristen Williams; grandchildren: Cason, Bryson, Jaxon, Justin, Millie, and Jettie Cate; aunt Mary Beth Hooper; and cousin Jordan Hooper. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; his sister: Brenda Sue Blackburn; his uncle: Sammy Hooper; nieces: Christy Bratton and Wendy Powell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the chapel of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 221 West 5th Street, Rusk, TX with Bro. Kevin Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Bruce Stewart, Elbert Ballew, Greg Baker, Keith Isaacs, Timmy Joe Langston, Bobby Golightly, Austin Young and Nickel Foreman.
