Janie Estell Beasley Wood

Janie Estell Beasley Wood, 95, of Santa Fe, TX passed away June 18, 2024 in Texas City. She was born July 19, 1928 in Cherokee County, TX to Clem “Buster” Beasley and Lillian “Pink” Grimes Beasley. She loved to read her Bible and work outside cleaning around her yard and keeping her burn pile going. Janie married Marvin James “Woody” Wood on June 24, 1948 in Austin, TX. He preceded her in death May 7, 1977. She worked at the Rusk State Hospital.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her daughter, Gay Waye of Santa Fe, TX; grandchildren: Traci Stanton and husband Joe of Dickinson, TX; Wayne Campbell and wife Eileen of McKinney, TX; great grandchildren: Joseph Stanton, Mattie, Julia and Natalie Campbell. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters: Inez Miles, Lee Etta Myers, Charlene Meadors; brother, Doyle Beasley and son-in-law: Jerry Waye.

A celebration of Janie’s life will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 2 to 4:00 p.m. at the chapel of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 221 W. 5th Street, Rusk, TX 75785. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite local organization.
