Fatality Pedestrian vs. Train Accident

 On September 6, 2024, at about 11:01 A.M. Jacksonville Police and Fire departments were dispatched to an accident involving a pedestrian and a train. The accident occurred in the 100 block of Gillespie Avenue. The pedestrian was walking in front of the train and did not respond to train warning horns. The male pedestrian was struck by the train and pronounced dead at the scene. 

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld at this time so family members can be contacted. 

The rail line and Gillespie Street have resumed normal operations.
