Sharon (Sherry) Lynn Coates
Sharon (Sherry) Lynn Coates, beloved mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024 at the age of 74.
Sherry loved to cook and was known for making delicious cheesecake, fudge, and Christmas sugar cookies during the holidays. In her younger days Sherry enjoyed making ceramics and had a gift for writing beautiful poems. She found solace and strength in her faith in Jesus Christ and enjoyed listening to gospel music.
In her later years Sherry found joy in the simple pleasures of life from antique shopping to collecting clocks. Sherry devoted the last few years of her life taking care of her ailing mother and her aunts and uncles.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Coates; former husband and father of her children, Gerald (Jerry) Clement; mother and father Sue H Watson and Marlon Watson; grandparents Doc and Leola Henderson, and brother, Neal Watson.
Sherry is survived by her children Shannon Clement and wife, Amanda of Rusk, Damon Clement and wife, Kelley of Anna, Texas, Suzanne Brown and husband, Mike of Lumberton Texas, and Suzette Clement of McKinney, Texas; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and cherished friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care 6624 Fannin Suite 2600 Houston, Texas 77030 in her and Gus’s honor.
