Glenda Rose Batson Wyatt
Glenda Rose Batson Wyatt, aged 82, affectionately known to many as Granny Rose, peacefully departed to be with her Lord on March 6, 2024, at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. The overwhelming love for Glenda was unmistakable as she was surrounded by loved ones in the weeks preceding her passing and at the moment of her departure.
Born on April 9, 1941, in Normangee, Texas, Glenda was daughter to Charlie and Alda Belle Batson. She found her lifelong love in Daniel Thornton (“Poppy”) Wyatt, to whom she was married for 48 years until his passing on March 6, 2004. Glenda is also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Batson. She is survived by her sister; Maudene Cole, and husband James; brother Melvin Batson, and wife Brenda; sister-in-law Francine Batson; her five children, Leslie Wyatt, and wife Terry; Ricky Wyatt, and wife Nila; Wanda Risner; Donald Wyatt; and Mitchell Wyatt, and wife Kandy; as well as 78 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Glenda embodied the roles of loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Throughout her life, she was a successful Tupperware saleswoman for 32 years, a Market America entrepreneur, and one of the kindest souls in the oil and gas industry, working as a landman and right-of-way agent. Her caring nature shone through in her interactions with landowners, who loved working with her. She cherished the snow, never failed to celebrate birthdays with her trademark phone call singing “Happy Birthday,” and made a mean hamburger patty. Glenda lived in Rusk with her daughter Wanda and was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church.
A service honoring Glenda’s life will be held on Friday, March 15th, at the First Methodist Church, 402 Main Street, Normangee, Texas. The viewing will begin at 2:00, followed by the service at 4:00. A graveside service will follow where Glenda will finally be reunited with her love, Danny, at Ten Mile Cemetery in Madisonville, Texas, to rest peacefully side-by-side.
