A funeral service for Eugene Armijo, 78, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Visitation will begin 1 hour before.

Eugene was born on October 4, 1945, to Moses and Andrea Mary (Gonzales) Armijo in Las Animas, Colorado, and went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2023. Eugene joined the United States Army right out of high school. After serving his country, he was discharged honorably and worked many years in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Houston Texas as an iron worker and welder. He retired from the International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Iron Workers. He spent his years in retirement as a fulltime rancher taking care of his black Angus cows. Eugene loved spending time visiting with his neighbors, close friends, and family. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Andrea Armijo; 3 brothers, Alex Armijo, David Armijo, and Albert Armijo; 2 sisters, Stella Madrid and Olivia Rodriguez; and daughter, Charlotte Martinez.

Left to cherish Eugene’s memory are his loving wife of 40 years, Suzanne Cheeseman-Armijo of Rusk; daughter, Tina Tena of Denver, Colorado; and son, Steven Armijo of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his 2 brothers, Patrick Armijo and wife Charlotte of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Moses Armijo of San Diego, California; and his sister, Helen Montoya and husband George of Denver, Colorado. He will be dearly missed by his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
