Michael Dean Oliver, 49, tragically passed from this life on Friday, October 20, 2023, in Rusk. He was born June 30, 1974 in Jacksonville. He is survived by his parents, Rebecca and Wayne Cummins, Ronald Oliver; his brother, Brent Oliver and wife Hope, brother Marty Miller and wife Tammy; sister Mendy Cummins; brother Todd Cummins, brother Jerry Cummins and wife Teresa; sister Betty Lee Meggs and husband Louis Meggs; sister Sheryl Oliver; brother Ed Oliver and spouse Candice Skulsky; his children Kimberly Langston and wife Sarah, Becky Oliver, Brittney Oliver; and his first grandbaby, Lilly Oliver. He was loved dearly by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, all who will miss him more than words could describe.

To know Michael was to know the true meaning of family and love. His love for his family was unlike any other. He was a true mama’s boy, and that love was brighter than any star in the sky. His pride and joy were his three girls, and he was so proud that he was able to be called “Grandpa”. Michael would do anything for his family and was known for bringing his loved ones together through thick and thin.

As said best by his sister-in-law, Hope, sometimes God blesses us by taking away our earthly turmoil. Michael lived in agony the day his wife left this earth. He was always searching for his place in this world and that place was with her. We are all at peace knowing they have been reunited. While we are sad, he has gone, we find comfort knowing Michael knew Jesus and is walking amongst Him. John 16:22 states: “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” For now, we grieve, until we can rejoice together again one day.

Michael is preceded in death by the love of his life, Celestina Haubert Oliver; his granny, Mary Irby; his sister-in-law, Lindsey Sinclair Oliver; his sister Peggy Baugh; and cousin Jesse Irby.

A service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Chapel of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Michael’s name to the Golden Circle Activities Center, P.O. Box 547, Ennis, TX 75120.
