Margaret Ann Morris Speck

Margaret Ann Morris Speck, 87, formerly of Rusk, passed away August 18, 2023 in Jacksonville. Ms. Speck was born July 3, 1936 in Houston to S.T. Morris, Sr. and Josephine Elizabeth Hamby Morris. She graduated from Humble High School. She is a member of the First Church on the Hill, now Covenant Church and was there every chance that she got. Ms. Speck worked as the Director of Patient’s Rights for the Rusk State Hospital and retired in 1996 after 21 years of service. After retiring, she loved taking care of the many flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed going dancing.
Ms. Speck is survived by her sons: Bill Knight and wife Debie of Blanco, TX, Wesley Knight of Houston, TX, and Michael Knight and his wife Rhonda of Jacksonville, TX; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; sisters: Bobbie Russell of New Summerfield, TX, Bettie Fennell of Conroe, TX; brother: Ronald Morris of Spring, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: S .T. (Jack) Morris, Jr., Marshall Morris and James Morris.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24,2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 221 W. 5th Street, Rusk, TX. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk with Bro. Jack White officiating. Interment will follow at the Russell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Knight, Wes Knight, Eric Schwausch, Brandon Knight, Dane Knight, and Bryan Sosby.
