Gerald Freeman Lewis, Jr of Rusk, Texas went to his Heavenly home on July 10, 2023 in Tyler, Texas at the age of 83.

Jerry was born in Woodsboro, Texas to Gerald and Sybil Lewis on September 30, 1939. He served in the Airforce from October 2, 1956 through June 1, 1959. His career was in law enforcement. Beginning on April 1, 1972, Jerry served as a deputy sheriff and retired on January 31, 2000.

Jerry was a faithful member of Alto Missionary Baptist Church in Alto, Texas. Anyone who knew him knew he had a strong love for the Lord. His one desire was to see all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren know the Lord as their Savior.

Jerry is preceded in death by two of his sons, Wayne and Michael Lewis, along with his brother, Jimmy Fife.

Jerry is survived by Kathy Lewis, his wife of 28 years; daughter-in-law Cricket Lewis (wife of Wayne Lewis); daughter Sherry Hunt and husband, Stan Hunt, daughter Kelly Mager; son Scott Lewis; daughter-in-law Julia Lewis (wife of Michael Lewis); son Ryan Lewis; daughter Kimberly Fryer and husband Matthew Fryer; son Stephen Lewis and wife Dianna Lewis; daughter Michelle Manning and husband Mike Manning; daughter Melanie Kaplan and husband Jason Kaplan; and daughter Melody Cross, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 14th, at Alto Missionary Baptist Church in Alto, Texas. Viewing will be 1 hour prior to the service.
