Brief storms knock out power in S. Cherokee County

Oncor and Cherokee County Electric Co-op have reported power outages in areas in the southern end of Cherokee County – primarily in Wells and Redlawn – since about 3:40 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, while other residents are posting outages in Rusk and Alto via social media sites.

According to data from the stormcenter.oncor.com website, 116 active outages have impacted 4,659 Oncor customers, with officials estimating restoration at approximately 7:30 p.m. this evening.

Meanwhile, an online CCECA outage map noted one active outage north of Alto, affecting 19 members in the Redlawn area; workers are assessing conditions, according to the site.

Area residents who have taken to Facebook are noting outages throughout Rusk and Alto.
