Bobby Brooks

Bobby Brooks, 76, of Rusk, Texas passed away on April 27, 2023 at his home in Rusk. Bobby was born July 21, 1946, in Franklin, Texas to Clifton and Dorothy Brooks. He graduated from Franklin High School and joined the army, where learned to be a barber and worked in the artillery division. After his time in the military, he continued his education working as a barber to pay for school. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston University in 1971, a Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree in 1972 from Sam Houston University, and in 1979 he earned his Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Bobby would go on to work at the state prison as a social worker and an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor until he retired.

He was an avid reader and loved his books. He also enjoyed renovating houses for resale. Bobby loved spending time with his family and will be remembered as an amazing father, grandfather and friend. He loved his life and lived it to the fullest.

Bobby is survived by daughter Jessica Corley and husband Cody Corley of Houston, TX; son Robert Brooks and wife Amy Brooks of Jacksonville, TX; daughter Rachel Gross of Rusk, TX; grandson Carter Brooks and girlfriend Hannah Starling of Jacksonville, TX; granddaughter Kenzee Brooks of Jacksonville, TX; grandson Greyson Gross of Rusk, TX; grandson Devin Crow of Jefferson, TX; grandson Trent Curley of Houston, TX; grandson Jaxson Curley of Houston, TX; great-granddaughter Lacee Leonard of Jefferson, TX; sister Dorothy Milberger, sister Jean Baker, sister and brother-in-law Nelda and William McClure; sister in law Pat Brooks; brother in law Billy Plagens and numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 12 noon at the Wallace Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk, TX, with Bro. Robin Parsons officiating.
