Hazel Maxine Williams Cummins

Hazel Maxine Williams Cummins, 93, of Rusk, Texas, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 21, 2023, in Rusk. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 25th at 1:00 PM with the funeral to follow at 3:00 PM at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.

Maxine was born on November 25, 1929, and was married to Joel Cummins for 55 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Kerry Cummins, as well as 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Jim Wilson of Palestine; son and daughter-in-law Nathan and Janet Cummins of Rusk; and daughter-in-law Janis Cummins of Rusk; grandchildren Joel Wilson, Jason Wilson, Julie Ann Opella, Jessica Cummins, T J Cummins, and Amber Goldman; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; brothers Travis Williams, Beuford Williams, Dan Williams, and Roger Williams; sister Ann Spurgeon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joel Wilson, Jason Wilson, T J Cummins, Jared Cummins, Ty Cummins, Jordan Cummins, Josh Wilson, and Jack Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Matt Goldman, Alexander Opella, Nathaniel Opella, and J J Arnold and Brian Opella.
