RISD to host March 31 town hall meeting on proposed bond election

The Rusk ISD board of trustees will host a 5:30 p.m. Monday (March 31) town hall meeting regarding two bond propositions featured on a May election ballot.
During the meeting, held at the Rusk High School Auditorium, will feature school officials explaining the two propositions placed before voters this year.
Bond Proposition A calls for a new elementary school to house students in grades 1-5 in a 116,600SF building designed to accommodate up to 800 Students, for a projected cost of $45,240,000.
Bond Proposition B entails upgrades to the RHS Athletic Complex. A new weight room with additional locker room space and sports medicine room will be housed inside a 16,000SF facility, and connect the current field house and weight room. Current facilities will be brought up to date for maximized space. The proposition also includes expansion/renovation of Eagle Stadium, with the district replacing a large portion of the current home bleachers with stadium chair seating and replacement of the current press box, while doubling the capacity o the visitor side bleachers; total estimated cost is at $11,925,968.
