James Carlton Curry

Alto - Funeral services for James Carlton Curry, 93, of Alto, will be Saturday at 1 PM in the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Chapel in Alto. There will be a visitation time from 12 noon until service time. Burial will follow in the Lynches Chapel Cemetery near Alto.
Mr. Curry passed away Thursday, February 3rd in Alto. He was born August 17, 1928 in Augusta, Texas to Willie “Bill” Curry and Mattie Lee Henderson Curry. Mr. Curry had lived most of his life in Alto and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alto. He had worked for many years as a Communications Engineer and District Manager for Trunkline Gas Company. Carlton retired and opened Alto Small Engine Repair which he ran for several years. Carlton was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and he was an avid fisherman who always seemed to “outfish” his family and friends.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents and by a grandson Benjamin Scott Overby. He is survived by wife of 71 years Betty Dean Brooks Curry of Alto; daughters and sons-in-law Kelly Jo Curry of Alto, Sherry Curry Overby (Tom) of Maryland and Joni Curry Barone (Race) of Lindale; 4 grandchildren: Emily, Jennifer, Jayna and Trey; as well as 5 great grandchildren: Chase, Harper, Lily, Bailey and Nicholas.
