Amber Leigh (Pookie) Vaughn

Memorial Services for Amber Leigh Vaughn will be at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk on March 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will be officiated by Bro. Sonny McFarland.

A beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Amber Leigh Vaughn, left this world unexpectedly, at 30 years old, on February 27, 2021. She was born on July 7, 1990 in Jacksonville Texas. She grew up in Rusk, Texas and graduated Rusk High School in 2008. She loved Jesus with her whole heart and was a member of New Emmaus Baptist Church.

Amber, A.K.A. (Pookie) was an outgoing, vivacious, full of life, outrageously funny, outspoken, tell you how it was, and just a big kid herself. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Being a mother to Meeka was her biggest accomplishment in life. Her eyes gleamed when she talked about her daughter. We will always remember her infectious smile and laugh and her one of-a-kind personality. Her presence in our lives will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Michael, Sr. and Robin Liles; grandparents: Tony Tullis and Leeman and Faye Isaacs; step-brother, Timothy Liles; uncle, Kelley Kelton; and nephew, Dalton Aynesworth

She is survived by the love of her life, her daughter, Meeka Liles of Troup; husband Justin Vaughn, of Rusk; father Larry Carl Smith, of Rusk; grandparents Dan & Sue Kelton of Jacksonville; Larry and Zella Smith, of Rusk; and Billie Brooks, of Rusk. Also survived by siblings; sister and brother-in-law Crystal and Jason Ballard, of Nacogdoches; brother Tony Brooks of Rusk; step-brother and sister-in law E.J. and Laura Liles, of Troup; step-sisters and brother-in-law Katie and Daniel Burch of White Oak, Angie and Mike Odom of White Oak; and sister Laura Shuptrine of Lufkin. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to New Emmaus Baptist Church Youth Group, 4495 FM 856 N, Troup Texas 75789.
