NWS: Severe weather threat forecast in region Feb. 15

National Weather Service officials in Shreveport have forecast a severe weather threat for Feb. 15, 2025, for part of Cherokee County. Potential hazards include isolated strong tornadoes possible, damaging wind gusts of 60 or more miles per hour, quarter-sized hail or larger and heavy rainfall that could result in localized flooding.
Meanwhile, a www.weather.gov forecast states that Cherokee County residents can expect a 20% chance of showers after 3 p.m. Friday, with a Valentine’s Day high near 52 degrees, and southeast winds around 5 mph. Rain increases tonight to 30%, with temperatures dropping slightly to 48 degrees.
Saturday’s high will be near 67, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms to start off the day (Feb. 15), particularly after 9 a.m., the site stated. Southwest winds are predicted to be from 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible. The evening’s forecast shows to be mostly clear, with a low around 32. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
On Sunday, Feb. 16, expect sunny skies, with a high near 47 and north winds from 5-15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Sunday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 29.
Monday (Feb. 17) will be sunny with a high near 56 and a low of around 39, with partly cloudy skies.
Rain returns to the area on Tuesday (Feb. 18), with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Conditions will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Temperatures will drop to around 30 Tuesday evening, with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight.
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, NWS has predicted a slight chance of rain showers and sleet, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 39, with a 20% chance of precipitation during the day. Wednesday night’s low will be around 22 degrees, with partly cloudy skies.
