John Paul Meador went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, with his wife and children by his side. He was born April 5, 1948, in Jacksonville, Texas.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 38 years, Elaine; son, Stephen Paul Meador and wife Emily of Garland; daughter, Stephanie Phillips and husband Patrick of Rusk; and son, Clint Swafford and wife Melanie of Paris; grandchildren, Kerry Paul Meador and wife Shanda, John Daniel Meador, Seth and Connor Day and Colton and Brianna Swafford; great-grandchildren, Carter, Kamden and Kessley; sisters, Linda Heidelberg and husband Richard and Sandy Carroll and husband Jeff; as well as numerous relatives, friends, and church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth Meador; his grandson, Kayle Stephen Meador; and his beloved Corkey.

John Paul was a life-long resident of Rusk and a graduate of Rusk High School. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101. He made his living for the last 50 years in the oil industry.

He loved vacationing in Colorado, hunting and working on his many projects at his shop. He was an avid storyteller who loved reminiscing with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home-Rusk. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Maydelle. Serving as pallbearers will be Dick Bridges, Jason Bridges, Brandon Bridges, Glenn Wilcox, Joe Meador and Patrick Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are David Buckner, Johnny Spraggins, and Gregg Russell.
