Joshua Michael Herring

Joshua Michael Herring, 30, passed away on October 26, 2026. 

Josh grew up in Rusk, Tx and had recently begun a new chapter of his life by moving to Austin. Josh was a genuinely amazing person with the brightest spirit and a deep love for everyone in his life. He found great joy in the pages of a good book, the thrill and camaraderie of video games, and the raw energy of live music. While living in Austin, he was truly loving life, exploring the city, and embracing every new adventure. His beautiful soul and vibrant energy will never be forgotten.

Josh played so many different roles in his life. He was a son, a grandson, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, and a friend. I think if you were to ask him, of all of the roles that he played, “Uncle Josh” was his favorite. He loved his nieces and nephew fiercely. 

Josh is survived by his Mom and Stepdad, Jessica and Jordan Stangl; father Stephen Herring and Keili Taylor and Jaime Herring; grandparents, Kenneth and Shirley “Pete” Herring, Margie Sterling, Brenda and Harold Blalock Jr.; brothers, Chrystian Michael, Sebastian Michael and wife Jocelyne, and Thomas Michael and wife Maribel; his three beloved nieces Avayah, Mia, and Janice and nephew Sebastian; Stacey Cantrell, and Miranda Taylor; aunts and uncles, Michelle Blalock, Jason Blalock, Ashley and Roy Petty, and Corie Herring; cousins, Ashlynn and Kordell Hackney, Brandon and Haily Petty, and Kenslee and Okoye Smotherman; and his very dear friends, Caleb, Sarah, Octavian, Logan, and Hayden. 

He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents James and Bernice Roach, and brother Damion Austin Blalock Herring.

A memorial service will follow at a later date.
