A funeral service for Jo Ellen Currie, 78, of Rusk, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2026, at Autry Funeral Home, in Jacksonville with Bro. Brad Turlington officiating. She will be laid to rest at Jim English Cemetery in Crockett.
Visitation will begin, Sunday, October 4, 2026, and family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Jo Ellen was born on November 3, 1947, in Evadale, to Bronson and Addie Bell Cravy and passed away on September 30, 2026, in Temple.
Jo Ellen lived life with a full heart and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. Family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in spending time with those closest to her. She also had a passion for traveling and embraced every opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories. She was also a true outdoors woman, loved to fish, and arrange and participate in family outdoor activities.
She believed in making the most of every minute and approached life with enthusiasm, kindness, and purpose. She was the person who always "showed up" when someone needed her, even when no one else would. Her generous spirit and selfless nature led her to constantly put others first, always wanting to make everyone around her happy. Her love, encouragement, and steadfast presence touched countless lives and will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, loyalty, and living each day to the fullest will continue to inspire her family and friends for years to come.
Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Don Currie; parents, Bronson and Addie Bell Cravy; and sister, Betty Rawls.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Donnie Currie and wife, Charlotte; daughter, Tammy Bray and husband, David, all of Rusk; grandchildren, Cole Currie, Cody Calhoun, Andrea Prosise, Brianna Knowlton, Haley Black, and Ashton Bray; brother, Dale Cravy and wife, Dana; great-grandchildren, Cannin Prosise, Mackston Summers, Bella Black, and Sutton Black; nieces and nephews, Tommy Rawls, Donna Jimenez, Robert Rawls, Tyler Cravy, Brad Cravy, and Emilie Cravy; and dear friend of 15 years, Bill Hinchcliffe.
Pallbearers will be Cole Currie, Cody Calhoun, Brad Cravy, Tyler Cravy, Ben Prosise, Robert Rawls, Jamie Watson, and Chris Collins
