Timothy Matthew Gilmore

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Timothy Matthew Gilmore, known as Matt or Gilmore to those who knew him best. He was born April 27, 1984, in Lufkin, Texas, and passed on August 18, 2026, at age 42. Matt fought pancreatic cancer for over two years. He passed right before lunch on Tuesday, surrounded by his family and caregivers.  
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Gilmore; two children, Ransom O. Gilmore and Ripley E. Gilmore; parents, Mark and Susan Gilmore; uncle Buford Gilmore, uncle Hulen and aunt Cathy Gilmore; also by various cousins, nieces, and nephews.
 Matthew was a published author, gun aficionado, who loved history and the Constitution, loved his country and countrymen. He was eager to teach any who had questions he could answer and a desire to help. He was sensitive to the needs of others.  His family is proud to have had him in their lives. He worked at Hodge Unit at TDCJ in Rusk
A Memorial Service set is August 29th, 2:00 -4:00 p.m. at the First Apostolic Church of Dialville, 1406 CR 1608, Rusk TX.
