Some people spend their lives chasing the horizon.
For Lee Kilgore, the horizon was often seen through the windshield of a big truck.
Lee Kilgore, 67, of Maydelle, TX, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 28, 2026.
Lee was born to Nellie Kilgore of Devers, TX, and Winfred Kilgore of Buffalo, TX, on February 28, 1959. He was raised by his loving stepfather, William “Bill” Scott. He married the love of his life, Genny Kilgore, in 1981, and together they shared 45 years of marriage built on faith, love, and unwavering devotion to one another and their family.
For many years, Lee worked as a professional truck driver. Through countless miles on the open road, he faithfully provided for his family with quiet determination and an unmatched work ethic. Those who knew him knew him as dependable, hardworking, and generous, someone who could always be counted on.
Away from work, Lee enjoyed the rodeo, watching college sports, hunting, fishing with his best friend and brother, Robert Lenard, and spending time outdoors. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved grand-dog, Luna, who never failed to bring a smile to his face.
One of Lee’s greatest joys was sharing his love of the road with his daughter. As a child, almost every summer, she joined him in the cab of his truck as his co-pilot, learning how to read a map long before GPS. What may have seemed like ordinary trips became treasured adventures filled with conversations, laughter, truck stop meals and diners, and memories that would last a lifetime. Those miles together became one of the greatest gifts he ever gave her.
One of the greatest measures of a man’s life is the people who choose to walk beside him. Lee was blessed with countless friends, but he was especially grateful for the few who became brothers, not by blood, but through years of unwavering loyalty, shared memories, and a friendship that felt like family. Those relationships were among life’s greatest blessings, and his family will forever be thankful for the love and support they shared.
Above all else, Lee loved his family. His greatest legacy is not measured in miles traveled, but in the love he gave so freely, the example he set through his faith and integrity, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and steady presence.
Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Genny Kilgore; his loving daughter, Ashley Kilgore; sister Delores Schwarze, and many beloved family members and lifelong friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Although our hearts are broken, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and find peace in knowing that Lee is home with his Savior.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk, Texas, with funeral services immediately following visitation at 2 p.m.
