Rusk council to meet in regular session June 11
RUSK – Local city leaders will meet in regular session, 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, in the Rusk Council Chambers to consider the following agenda:
• A consent agenda featuring meeting minutes and financials
• Election of a Mayor Pro Tem
• Reappointment of Anthony King as City Attorney of Rusk
• Approval of Ordinance 32.07 amending the city’s Municipal Court of Record and any related procedures or provisions required by law
• Consider implementation of live streaming for city council meetings, including equipment, services, budget considerations and associated policies
• Discuss/receive a financial update from Anita Woodlee, CPA, regarding accounting records, reconciliations, financial reporting, budget status, audit preparation, internal controls and related financial matters
• Discuss/consider acknowledgement of Oncor Electric Delivery Company’s application for approval of a Wildfire Mitigation Plan filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas, including consideration of whether the city should submit comments, intervene or take any related action
• Discuss/receive, via Zoom, a report from Police Department Consultant Mike Alexander regarding RPD operations, staffing, organizational assessment, policy and procedural recommendations, status of the Chief of Police recruitment process and related law enforcement matters.
Several items also are listed under Executive Session discussions, including personnel matters, consultation with attorney (pending/contemplated litigation or settlement offers) and consultation with attorney (police department personnel, administrative matters, legal issues/related investigative considerations). Action, if any, must be taken when the council reconvenes into executive session, as per Texas Governent Code.
