Herman Kenneth Jones was born in Rusk, Texas, on May 20, 1939, and died in Conroe, Texas, on May 30, 2026. He was amember of the Rusk Eagle football team, graduating from Rusk High School in May 1957.
He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in May1961. He was later licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas and worked in mechanical and structural design engineering.
He also attended South Texas College of Law in Houston and received his Juris Doctor in 1969. That same year, he was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law in all Texas courts. He proudly practiced law in Houston for morethan 50 years.
He was an avid sportsman and world traveler. Herman was known for his sense of humor, compassion for people,humanitarian missions and his long-term dedicated work and volunteerism to improve his communities.
He is survived by his wife, Fran Ellisor; his daughter, Deborah Jones Walley, and her husband, Robert Walley, of Rusk, Texas; his daughter, Carole Jones Levine, and her husband, Andrew Levine, of Houston, Texas; his sister, Lawanda Sue Hinton, ElPaso, Texas; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his son, Herman Kenneth Jones Jr.; his mother and father, Hosea Horace and Dolly Jones of Rusk.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 221 5th Street, Rusk, TX75785. Visitation begins 10:00 a.m., with refreshments, followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Following the service burial will be at Oakland Cemetery
