Rusk Council calls special June 4 meeting to consider city manager vacancy
RUSK – Local city leaders will convene 6 p.m. Thursday in a June 4, 2026, special meeting to deliberate and discuss matters related to the city manager vacancy and organizational leadership transition, according to a meeting agenda post at rusktx.org on Monday.
This includes, but is “not limited to succession planning, interim or acting administrative leadership delegation of authority, continuity of municipal operations, recruitment and hiring procedures, personnel qualifications, employment matters and all related issues necessary to ensure the continued administration and operation of city government,” stated the agenda, which notes that the council will immediately convene in executive session.
A vacancy was created by the council’s May 28 vote to accept the resignation of City Manager Bob Goldsberry, who held the position for 13 months.
Action, if any, will be taken after the council reconvenes in open session after deliberations, as per Texas Government Code.
