Bonnie Louise Hightower McBroom
Bonnie Louise Hightower McBroom of Rusk was born on June 24, 1929, in St. Augustine, Texas to Claude Amon Hightower and Laura Murel Emmons Hightower. She went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald Taylor McBroom; son Donald Wayne McBroom; great-granddaughter Rachel Claire McBroom; brother Claude Emmons Hightower; and sister Dixie Lee Hightower Gray. She is survived by her sister Janice May Hightower Gilman of Pasadena; son David Edward McBroom and wife Lisa of Rusk; daughters Delcie Louise White and husband Kenneth of Maydelle, Deborah Murel Barkley and husband Dale of Kingwood, Darla Ann Massingill and husband Robert of Lufkin, and D’Andra Lynn Miller of Kyle; daughter-in-law Connie McBroom; 25 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents gave the name Bonnie to their first-born daughter, and she lived up to the Gaelic meaning of that name (Beautiful) as a devoted servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. She manifested His love for her by sincerely giving of herself to everyone that had the privilege of being in her home and dining at her table. Her love, strength, sincerity, and humility live on through her descendants that aspire to live up to such a beautiful witness. While her passing is mourned by her loved ones, they delight in knowing that she has attained the goal she lived her life for, to be with her Lord and loved ones in Paradise. Her Bible was bookmarked to the first chapter of the book of Philippians, which contained one of her favorite verses (1:21), “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Services will be Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 am at McBroom Family Cemetery.
