Cherokee County initiates Feb. 23 burn ban

RUSK – A seven-day outdoor burn ban was issued Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, by Cherokee County Judge Chris Davis to help mitigate hazards posed by threat of large wildfires in the area.
Officials will consider extending the ban after the initial period is up, with authorization coming from the Cherokee County Commissioners Court.
