We should all take a moment

We should all take a moment to consider the first responders that came out and helped their neighbors during the severe cold and ice last week. 
The linemen who worked in the frigid cold to restore our heating and lights. The police and firefighters that had to brave dangerous icy roads and the health care workers that made it to the hospitals to care for their patients. The tree services that came and cleared power lines and roads from the many fallen trees and the water personnel that checked pumps or repaired broken water lines in subfreezing temperatures. To everyone that took the time to check on their neighbors or relatives to make sure they were alright and to the Highway 69 Mission giving food, warmth and shelter to the homeless.
During times of severe events, in this case the cold and ice, we have learned that in East Texas … we care for each other.
