Wells event rescheduled for Nov. 29

by Staff reports

Wells city officials have announced a change in plans for its Christmas tree lighting, moving the event up a week to Saturday, Nov. 29, to avoid conflict with early December events in Lufkin and Nacogdoches.
Santa Claus will be on hand during the free event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. this Saturday in front of Wells City Hall, 293 Rusk Ave. Cookies, candy canes and hot chocolate will be served to visitors.
Earlier this week, Rusk Chamber of Commerce officials announced that this year's Hometown Christmas event has been rescheduled to Dec. 6 due to expected weather conditions this Saturday, the date it was originally scheduled.
The annual tree lighting will be held right before the Dec. 2 Christmas parade.
