Jacksonville manhunt update

by Staff reports

In a Nov. 3, 2025, social media post, Jacksonville Police Department shared the following information:
Following our earlier alert regarding the suspect, Bobby Dennis, in the Nov. 2, 2025, shooting of an on-duty peace officer, the Jacksonville Police Department is issuing this notice to the public: anyone who allegedly helps the suspect evade capture will be arrested and prosecuted.
Under Texas Penal Code §38.05 (Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution), it is a crime to intentionally:
· Harbor or conceal a person wanted by law enforcement,
· Provide any means to avoid arrest (including transport, money, a place to stay, false identification, or phones), or
· Warn the person of law-enforcement efforts to find them, when such warning is likely to hinder apprehension.
Because the underlying offense here is a felony, hindering apprehension is a third-degree felony, punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. In addition, anyone who destroys, conceals, alters, or fabricates evidence connected to this case may face charges under Texas Penal Code §37.09 (Tampering with Physical Evidence)—also a third-degree felony in most circumstances.
“If you give this fugitive a ride, a room, a phone, money, or a heads-up about police activity, you are committing a felony,” said Corporal Amanda Bragg, Community Engagement/ PIO for Jacksonville Police Department. “Do not throw away your freedom for someone who chose violence. The safest and only lawful choice is to call us immediately.”
This notice applies to everyone, including friends, family members, acquaintances, and landlords. If you have already had contact with the suspect, you should stop all assistance immediately and contact investigators. Coming forward now may be considered in charging decisions; continuing to help will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
