ELECTION: Early voting set Oct. 20-31

CHEROKEE COUNTY – Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 20 and runs through Oct. 31 for the 2025 November General elections.
This year’s election features features 17 proposed constitutional amendments, local mayoral, city council and school board races, along with two special elections scheduled to fill legislative vacancies.
Registered voters can cast ballots at three places during the early voting period: At the Cherokee County Elections Department, 138 W. 5th St. in Rusk, the Jacksonville Public Library at 526 E. Commerce St. or at The River Church, 595 Marcus St. in Alto.
Polls are open at these sites from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 24, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, through Wednesday, Oct. 29; and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 (Halloween). According to county election officials, the polls are open for a total of 100 hours during the early voting period.
According to the Texas Secretary of State, voters have until Oct. 24 to apply for ballot by mail; the Nov. 4 Election Day is the final day to receive a ballot by mail.
