City of Rusk announces Fall Clean Up

Neill Holcomb, Public Works Director for the City of Rusk, has announced that the Fall clean-up day will be October 4th, Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
 
The Citywide clean-up is restricted to residents that reside within the city limits or any resident that resides outside the city limits and receives city water service. City workers will monitor each dumpsite during the hours set forth.  Dump locations will be at the City Warehouse, 511 S Dickinson Dr. Rusk.
 
Holcomb stated “Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has strict regulations and guidelines that we are required to follow.  These guidelines must be followed in order to ensure the safety of our staff and the surrounding community.  Listed below are items that the landfill cannot accept.  Please omit these items when participating in the cleanup.”
 

Items that are not accepted are: no liquids of any kind, whole tires (must be split or quartered), oil or oil filters, refrigerators, A/C units or any appliance containing CFC’s (Freon), lead acid batteries, hazardous waste, chemicals or pesticides, paint or paint buckets (only if paint is completely dried and free of liquid), medical waste of any kind, or dead animals.

 

Items that are accepted are: brush and yard waste, bulky items, household items, furniture, outdoor grills, dishwashers, appliances (that do not use Freon), paper or cardboard items, lawn mowers, construction debris, wood and metal items, mattress sets, or water heaters. The accepted items are mentioned as a guideline and not inclusive, you may throw away anything as long as it is not one of the above listed non-acceptable items.

 
Please note that all items must be manageable by two people when loading the container.
