Funeral services for Faye Landrum Looney, 101, of Alto will be Wednesday, July 2 at the Alto Missionary Baptist Church in Alto at 10 AM with Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynches Chapel Cemetery. There will be a visitation Tuesday, July 1st at the funeral home in Alto from 6-8 PM. Faye passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025 in Rusk, Texas. She was born in Eugene, Oregon August 12, 1923 to Frank King and Emily May Hoselton King. She grew up in Oregon and lived there until she met James Fisher Landrum at a dance in Salem, Oregon. They married in 1943 in Vancouver Washington. After her husband’s stint in the Army they moved to Alto, Texas, where she lived for many years. Besides being a homemaker, Faye had worked at Hunt’s Cannery in Oregon, Indian Mound Nursey in Alto and as a bookkeeper at the Alto Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member. She was preceded in death by husband’s James Fisher Landrum in 1966 and Olind M. Looney in 2002, grandson Michael Castro, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Faye is survived by sons Jimmy Landrum (Birdine), Danny Landrum (Judy), Bobby Landrum (Tammy) and David Landrum (Kim), daughter Shirley Castro (Roger), step son Jimmy Looney (Georgeann), 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
