Jim Edward “Ed” Perry Jim Edward “Ed” Perry

A graveside service for Jim “Ed” Perry, 82, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at New Emmaus Cemetery in Troup with Bro. Sonny McFarland officiating.
Jim was born on October 13, 1942, to Jim and Myrtle Perry and went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2025.
Ed had a passion for the outdoors, and hunting season was his favorite time of year. He made sure to be out there every single day, soaking in every moment of the tradition he loved. He spent over 30 years shaping young minds as a science teacher, starting out in Conroe and finishing his career in Rusk, TX, where he taught for 19 years. Outside the classroom, farming and ranching were in his blood. Every Saturday morning, you’d find him selling his home-grown produce at the Tyler Farmers Market. Summers were special, his grandchildren often worked alongside him on the homestead, shelling peas and learning the value of hard work. Ed had a deep love for history and tradition. He was an active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, traveling far and wide to take part in Civil War reenactments. He was also a Mason, a role he took great pride in.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Della Rae Mitchell; and grandson, Jim Cody Perry.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Karen Perry; son, Jim Steve Perry and wife Tammy of Troup and their children, Shelbi Bolton and husband Matthew of Jacksonville, and James Dalton Perry of New Summerfield; granddaughter, Alexandra Conner and husband Cody of Burleson; and daughter, Rebecca Perry and her children.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Rylee Bolton, Jackson Conner, Parker Bolton, and Beau Conner.
Pallbearers will be Dalton Perry, Cody Conner, Matthew Bolton, Ken McClure, Tony Cornell, and Shannon Ault.
