Stephen Wayne Cary

Stephen Wayne Cary of Rusk, Texas, passed away on May 11, 2025 at the age of 70. 

He was born on July, 7 1954 in Rusk, Texas to William Edward Cary and Rethel Bell Cary of the Sardis Community. He graduated from Rusk High School in 1972.

The majority of his career was spent as a Construction Surveyor. He completed his time before retirement as a TDCJ prison guard. At a young age he was saved and baptized becoming a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Rusk. He enjoyed hunting, gun collecting, making knives, finding the perfect gifts for his great nieces, and listening to classic rock.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents William and Rethel Cary, many aunts and uncles, good friend David Brown and several other life-long buddies. 

He is survived by his sister Angela Cary Glady and husband Burdett Glady of Lindale, TX; brother Tim Cary of Rusk, TX; his niece Emily Glady and her daughter Lynlee Glady; nephew Neil Glady and his daughters Avery and Claire Glady; his aunt Billy Cary of Jacksonville, TX and numerous cousins. 

He will have a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 16, 2025 and memorial service following officiated by Pastor Carl Goff at 11:00 a.m. at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk, TX. Private burial to be done at Sardis-Edgefield Cemetery in Rusk, TX at a later date.
