Karen Dorothy Markasky
A memorial service for Karen Dorothy Markasky, 63, of Jacksonville, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with Dr. Mike Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens.
Karen was born to Richard and Jean Hunt on April 17, 1961, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, in Jacksonville, Texas.
From an early age, Karen traveled across different parts of the world as a child of a military family. Karen graduated from Del Norte High School in California. Karen found peace and joy near the ocean and spent many summers with her children at the family’s beach house.
Karen loved listening to music, completing puzzles, and reading. She had a knack for connecting with others through hours-long phone calls with friends and family, and she provided support and care for others through her work. Karen also deeply loved being an American and proudly voiced it.
Of all her roles, Karen cherished being a mother and grandmother most of all. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was very proud of their success. Karen never missed a sporting event or opportunity to show her love and support to her family.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Jean Hunt, and her brother-in-law, Ronald Sanders.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Clarissa Kelley and husband Jon of Austin; sons, Johnny Markasky and wife Katie of Jacksonville and Steven Markasky of Jacksonville; sister, Debra Sanders of Troup; and grandchildren, Taylor Hunt, Cameron Markasky, and Luke Markasky.
