Larry Wayne Bowman passed away at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas on November 7th, 2024. He was 70 years old. Larry was born to Jessie and Bobbie Bowman in Houston, Texas on September 11, 1954. He graduated from Alto High School Class of 1973.
Larry is survived by Beverly his wife of 44 years; daughter Shandy Bowman and partner Brett Weaver; son Larry Chase Bowman and wife Akira; grandchildren Abbi, Cainon, Averi, and Creed Bowman. He is also survived by brothers Gary and Jason Bowman and proceeded in death by sister Sonia McClure.
In Larry’s younger years, he loved music and played bass guitar in a band made up of his friends. A lover of classic rock and roll, he passed on his passion for playing the guitar to his granddaughter Abbi. As a young man he worked as a carpenter around his hometown of Alto. When married Larry worked at Luminant Mining as a hauler operator for 29 years. His previous carpentry skills came in handy when Larry and Beverly purchased land and he single handedly created a home for his wife and kids. His priorities were watching his kids participate in sports and school activities while they were growing up, and in his later years spending time with his grandkids. After retirement he loved being in his home, working on his land, football Sundays and time with his family. The family cherish memories of his fun-loving personality, as he always had a way of making anything hilarious leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
As we say goodbye to Larry, Dad, and Papaloosa we cherish the time spent with him hanging out, laughing, and reminiscing old memories as new ones were being made. We will remember his radiant personality, the jokes, and phrases he constantly was creating, and his eternal love for his family.
Pallbearers will be Chad Fletcher, Justin McClure, Brady Bowman, Reagan Bowman, Zach Bowman, and Brett Weaver.
