Martha Carolyn Thompson Hudnall
Martha Carolyn Thompson Hudnall was born Feb, 22, 1938 in Cherokee County to J.W. “Winkie” and Nona L Norwood Thompson and passed away Aug. 26, 2024.
She was a proud graduate of the Rusk High School class of 1955. She went on to graduate from Angelina College in Lufkin and Henderson County Junior College in Athens. She was a registered nurse at Rusk State Hospital for 32 years. She also worked at TDCJ, the County Health Office and Rusk Memorial Hospital.
Martha remained a life long resident of Rusk where she belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Stewart and Irene Hudnall; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Peggy Hudnall; brother-in-law, Richard Crippen.
Martha is survived by her husband whom she married in 1953, Ernest R. Hudnall; sons, John and Gay, Rex and Cindy; grandchildren, Chris and April, Josh and Kayla, Julianna and Matthew, Casey and Bozy, Seth and Ava; great grandchildren, Carter, Camden, Corbin, Bentlee, Ansley, Owen; also by her sister Wilma Sue Crippen and her classmates of Rusk High School 1955.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 3, 2024 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rusk. Services will be officiated by Pat Gregg and Neil Shields. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
At Martha’s request in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Rusk High School Alumni Association, the Seventh Day Adventist Church or the Heritage Center of Cherokee County Museum in Rusk
