Nona Ann Otto Bailey

Funeral services for Nona Ann Otto Bailey, 88, of Wells will be Monday, July 1st, at 3 PM, at the Falvey Memorial Methodist Church in Wells with Rev. David Goodwin and Rev. Mike Waters officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Nona passed away peacefully at her home, Friday, June 28, in Wells.

She was born December 31, 1935 in Wharton, Texas to Claude Daniel Otto and Ann Gilbreath Otto. Mrs. Bailey earned a degree in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University and secured a job at the National Cash Register Company in Houston. While working there she met and married the love of her life, Warner Bailey. They moved to Lufkin to raise their two children, Blake and Shannon.

Nona owned and operated Wicks-N-Sticks and Deck The Walls in the “new” Lufkin Mall. After selling the stores, she went to work with her husband where they grew their business, Warner Bailey Inc. In 1991, she went to work part-time as a bookkeeper at Granite Publications, LLC and retired in 2004 as Vice-President of Finance.

She continued to help her husband and son run Warner Baily Inc. During this time, she enjoyed spending time with her family including her six grandchildren. She loved traveling to many parts of the world with her husband and friends. Nona was a member of Falvey Memorial Methodist Church in Wells where she served as Treasurer for many years. She also served on the board of the Rube Sessions Memorial Library.

Nona was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Warner Bailey. She is survived by son Blake Bailey and wife Christie of Alto; daughter Shannon Cull and husband Richard of New Caney; brother Harold Reese Otto and wife Debra of Marble Falls; grandchildren Taylor Worsham (Nathan), Calvin Bailey (Bertie), Bailey Cull, Creed Bailey (Carolina), Campbell Bailey and Emmagrace Cull; great grandchildren Malcolm Bailey and Jade Capo as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 PM at O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home in Alto.
