Dehart discontinues free pet food distribution
CHEROKEE COUNTY – A popular monthly pet food giveaway held in Reklaw by Dehart Veterinary Services has been cancelled indefinitely, including this Saturday’s scheduled May 18 distribution.
Dehart employees would travel to Cleburne to get cat food and dog food by from a Walmart distribution center free of charge, but “they decided not to offer it to us anymore,” said Dehart employee JoAnna Beltran. “I’m not sure of the reason.”
During distribution days, the Reklaw event provided up to 50 pound of dog food and 25 pounds of cat food per vehicle.
“It was definitely a blessing (for those needing food for their pets),” Beltran said. “We try our best to help as many people as possible. Maybe in the future we will be able to offer this again.”
A healthy Cherokee County requires great community news.
