Billy W. Choate

March 9, 1932 - March 9, 2024

Bill Choate was born in Enlow, TX to Clovis and Mary Bessie Choate. Bill attended school in Haworth, OK and graduated in 1950 from Haworth High School. He registered for the Draft on March 21, 1950, and was given an honorable discharge from the Air Force on Nov. 21, 1951, to return home. His mother had taken ill and was widowed. Bill spent a lot of time growing up in Arkansas on his grandparents’ farm. He married in 1952, and had a daughter, Patricia Ann, born in 1953. Bill remarried in 1959, and was given two more daughters. Billye Yvonne was born in 1959, and Dorothy Elise was born in 1961.

Starting in the Air Force, Bill learned about jet engines and auto mechanics. He worked for American Airlines 38 years. He was married to Joyce Choate in 1970 and gained four additional daughters. Upon retirement, Bill and Joyce moved to east Texas, or God’s Country as they affectionately referred to it. Bill enjoyed his tractors, playing 42 and meeting with friends for meals. They loved their cats and dogs too.

Bill went to be with Jesus on his 92nd birthday in Arlington, TX. Those preceding him in death were his wife, Joyce, in 2022; great grandson, Kannon Daggs, in 2016; father, Clovis; and his mother and step-father, Mary Bessie and Delbert Cantrell. He is survived by seven daughters: Pamela & Johnny Johnson, Janelda Buck, and Dorothy Brusaw of Arlington, Patricia and Jack Daggs of Midwest City, OK, Julia and Bob Taylor of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Billye Kudrna of Garland, and Becki and Joe Bethke of Mansfield. Also left behind were 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great grandsons!

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the FUMC Chapel, 313 N Center St. Arlington, TX 76011.
