Wells' boil water notice cancelled

by City of Wells

On Jan. 16, 2024, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system, CITY OF WELLS ID# 0370004, to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to a broken water main, causing a drop in the water pressure below 0 PSI, causing an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.

This notice affected customers ONLY in the city limits of Wells residing at 66 May St, 78 May St, 103 May St, 116 May St, 119 May St, 53 S 2nd St, 59 S 2nd St, 92 S 2nd St.

Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of Jan. 18, 2024.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Roy Shanks, Operator, or City Hall at (936) 867-4615.

If a customer wishes to contact the TCEQ, they may call. (512) 239-4691
