John Samuel Mines

John Samuel Mines, of Alto, passed away on November 28th, 2023 at his home in Alto, Texas.

John was a simple man and not a man of many words so we have decided to respect his wishes and not hold a visitation and/or funeral service. We will hold a celebration of life at his home at a later date, which is currently to be determined.

John was born in Russellville, Alabama to Hazel McBroom and William E. Mines on October 4th, 1946. He worked as a maintenance technician for many years, and was a mechanic prior to that.

John is preceded in death by his mother, father, two daughters, a few brothers, and many other family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Dedria Mines of Alto; daughters Elizabeth Tate Moran of Natchitoches, Jennifer McCullough of Bullard, Jessica Mines-Wood of Bullard, Jerrie Mines of Rusk, Shannon Abulnasr of Egypt, and Rebecca Mines; sons Billy Richardson of Burleson, Jason Gaskill of Calvin, and John Mines; sisters Linda and Susan of Houston; brothers Mickey Mines of Bullard and Darrell Wayne Mines of La Grange. Also by plenty of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, family and special life-long friends.

Although greatly appreciated, no memorials are needed/wanted or required at this time.

The family of John wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice of East Texas along with their entire care team, and special person Fay Mitchell who cared for John so graciously in the months leading to his death.
