Dorothy Long Marks

Dorothy Long Marks, age 97, of Temple passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 in a Bryan, Texas care center. She was born on October 19, 1926 in Rusk, Texas the daughter of Neill and Mamie (Holcomb) Long.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple, TX, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm at the Wilson Valley Cemetery Pavilion in Little-River, Texas.

Dorothy married George C. Marks of Heidenheimer, TX in 1951 in Rusk, Texas. She was an active member in her children’s schools and the Methodist Church having been a member of First Methodist Church in Temple for 48 years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband George; her parents Neill and Mamie Long; a son William “Bill” Neill Marks; and her brother Charles Long.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Ann Marks of College Station, TX; a granddaughter Alyssa Marks Halbert and husband Stephen of Weatherford, TX; a grandson Jake Marks of Rusk, TX; and 6 great-grandchildren.
