Scrimmage: Alto v. Beckville
The Yellowjackets began their season prelude Aug. 11 at home, in a scrimmage against Beckville. The Mean Sting squad played hard, although ending their match 0-13 against their opponent after a single quarter of live play. The Jackets host another home scrimmage, at 6 p.m. Thursday against Troup, whose head coach Sam Wells noted the Tigers scored six times in their scrimmage, while their Frankston opponent scored zero.

Scrimmage: Rusk v. Brook Hill
In an Aug. 11 scrimmage against The Brook Hill School, the 2023 Rusk Eagle varsity team showed its mettle during the 1-hour, 45-minute match in Bullard. Playing “with great effort, attitude and toughness, we flew to the ball on the defensive side of the ball and were very physical,” said RISD Athletic Director Thomas Sitton. “Offensively, we had some very explosive plays. We have to do a better job of catching the football with our receiving crew but are going to work hard to get it done. Overall, we were very pleased with our first time out on the field against another opponent.” The Eagles host Spring Hill in Rusk, in a 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, scrimmage.
