Barbara Ruth Brock

Barbara Ruth Brock, 88, of Rusk, TX entered her eternal rest on May 19, 2023. She was born on July 20, 1934 in Gallatin, TX to R.A. (Dick) and Dollie Colville. Barbara graduated from Rusk High School where she also played basketball as a member of the varsity team. She worked for the state hospital in Rusk as a mental health worker and retired in 1994. Barbara was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for her children. Her baking was second to none, and her pies in particular are a source of fond memories for families and friends. When she would have company for the holidays, she would bake each of her guest’s favorite type of pie.

Barbara is survived by daughter and son-in-law Lana and Tom Huckabay of Rusk, TX, daughter and son-in- law Donna and Rick Johnson of Rusk, TX; son Clay Brock of Sultan, Washington; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Barbara is preceded in death by parents R.A. (Dick) and Dollie Colville, son Wayne Brock, and brother Jim Colville.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to Heart of Texas Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk, TX. Graveside service will be held at Piney Grove Cemetery on May 22, 2023 at 2 PM.
