Ruby Pearl Norton Hudson, 88 of Tyler, formerly of Rusk, passed away May 1, 2023 at her home in Tyler surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 9, 1934 in Rusk to Charles C. Norton and Willie Ethel Meazle Hudson. Mrs. Hudson grew up in Rusk, graduating from Rusk High School in 1952. She then married Walter J. Hudson July 16, 1952 in Houston. He preceded her in death Aug. 16, 2019.
Mrs. Hudson is a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church in Rusk, where she had served as the church secretary/treasurer. She loved going to and having yard sales. She would actually go to the yard sales so that she would have enough items to sell in her annual yard sale. She loved to sing, listen to bluegrass music and good ole church hymns. Mrs. Hudson especially loved to visit with friends and family and go on road trips. If she were to meet a stranger, they wouldn’t be one for long. Mrs. Hudson worked for a number of years for Citizens 1st Bank in Rusk. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in her honor to the Eastside Baptist Church, 400 Academy St., Rusk, TX 75785 or to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX, 75701.
She is survived by her son: Jimmy Wayne Hudson and his wife Christine of Tyler; granddaughter: Lindsay Hudson Waters and her husband B.J. of Tyler as well as a number of nieces, nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother: Charles Lee Norton and three sisters: Doris McAnally, Marie Lloyd, and Berniece Magruder.
