Charles E. “Papa” Hudson Sr., 94, left this world to be with his family on January 7, 2023 at his home in Rusk. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk with grandson Lance Simms officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the home of Chris and Karen Vaught. Feel free to bring a dish and share some stories at 1460 FM 23.

“Papa” was born on April 8, 1928 in Rusk, Texas to Louis Edward and Bertha Mae (Jackson) Hudson. He served faithfully during World War II in the US Army with the 9207th TSU Def. in Ft. Lawton, WA. and the occupation of Japan. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Army occupation medal of Japan. He married Virginia Ann Lewis.

Charles owned and operated a concrete company for 50 years in East Texas serving the entire state and local need for commercial and construction. He also owned and operated “Rocking H Ranch” with Charles, Jr. offering quality custom hay bailing and the buying and selling of cattle. He was a member of Hudson Chapel Church and a member of local VFW posts.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 50 years, Virginia Hudson; sons, Charles E Hudson Jr, “Bud” and Jerry Turner; daughters, Brenda Kay Emerson and Peggy Ann Hudson; and granddaughter; Jennifer Hudson.

Survivors include grandchildren, Steven D. Hudson, Michelle Turner, Misty Goff Geers, Michael Goff, Jason Turner, Brandi Mason, Bryan Hudson, Cole Emerson; daughters-in-law, Mollie Turner and Carole Miller; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-granchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jason Turner, Michael Goff, Hunter Goff, Steven Hudson, Lance Simms, and Jason Lusk.
