Larry Douglas Johns, Sr.

A graveside service for Larry Douglas Johns, age 84, of Rusk is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Muse Cemetery with Rev. Don Copeland officiating.

Mr. Johns passed away May 9, 2022 in Rusk. He was born January 28, 1938 in Houston, TX to the late Alford and Violet Brenham Johns. Mr. Johns was a member of The Muse Baptist Church and worked as a Machinist for LECO for 19 years and ADT for 8 years. He belonged to the Who’s Who in American Business and earned 6 training certificates. He also took advanced Biblical courses, loved fishing, hunting and loved The Good Lord.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Beverly Johns; brother, Robert Allen Johns; and two sons, Larry Douglas Johns Jr. and Michael David Johns. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lori Suzanne and James Hash of Slocum, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Keith and Linda Johns of Rusk; grandchildren Morgan Taylor and husband Dillon of Athens, TX, Miranda McCoy of Slocum; great grandchild, Emmalynn (Emmi) Jean Franks of Athens; granddaughter, Christian Thiel and husband Nathan of Rusk and great grandchild, Raylee.

Pallbearers will include Leo Barton, Bill Tosh, Timmy Roach, Mike Knight, James “Ratt” Hash and Shawn Dean. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2022 at the funeral home.
